TNPL 2025: Ravi Ashwin and Dindigal Dragons Cleared of Ball Tampering Charges

Ravichandran Ashwin Loses Cool, Fined for On-Field Fury in TNPL 2025

Dindigul Dragons Captain Ravi Ashwin was accused of ball tampering in the match against the Sichem Madurai Panthers, who raised the accusation of attempting to tamper with the ball using chemical towels.

TNCA Finds No Evidence of Ball Tampering

The accusation was raised the next day after the match by the Madurai Panthers on Ravi Ashwin. This accusation was reviewed by the TNCA (Tamil Nadu Cricket Association), and the board announced that there is no conclusive evidence on this accusation. Speaking on the towels issue, TNPL CEO said:

"The towels in question were TNCA-issued and equally available to both teams," the TNPL CEO Prasanna Kannan said in a statement.
"The Playing Control Team—including umpires and the match referee—maintained full oversight of the ball throughout the match. No concerns were raised during play, and no verifiable evidence has been provided. The claims appear speculative and post-facto in nature."

TNPL CEO Responds to Allegation

Meanwhile, TNCA has said that the Madurai Panthers have the option to explore further on this accusation. If they want to proceed further, they can file a formal complaint, and the time frame given for this is today (17th June).

“Should the franchise possess credible and verifiable evidence, they may submit a formal request for an Independent Commission of Enquiry by 3 PM on 17th June, along with supporting material (video, photographic, or testimonial).”

TNPL management also issued an official notice and cautioned the franchise of the consequences if their accusation is baseless.

"TNCA cautions that baseless or defamatory allegations may lead to disciplinary action under the TNCA Code of Conduct and Operational Rules."
