Glenn "Big Show" Maxwell delivered an unforgettable performance in the Major League Cricket 2025 (MLC 2025). He smashed an unbeaten 106 runs off only 49 balls to lead the Washington Freedom to a dominant 113-run win over the Los Angeles Knight Riders at the Oakland Coliseum in California.
The innings came under pressure. Washington were reeling at 68 for 4 when Maxwell walked in. He took his time early on, managing just 11 runs off his first 15 balls. But what followed was mayhem. Over the next 34 balls, Maxwell hammered 95 runs. His knock included just two fours but 13 sixes as he cleared the ground with ease.
Glenn Maxwell’s assault peaked in the final over, bowled by Jason Holder. The right-hander launched a stunning attack and tonked three maximums in the over and brought up his century in the process. It was his maiden hundred in the MLC. By the time the innings ended, Washington had posted 208 for 5, a total that seemed out of reach just ten overs earlier.
Glenn Maxwell Joins Elite List, Creates Never-Seen-Before T20 Record
This was Maxwell’s eighth T20 century. It placed him level with Rohit Sharma, Jos Buttler, David Warner, Aaron Finch, and Michael Klinger, the joint-fourth highest in the format’s history. Only Chris Gayle (22), Babar Azam (11), and the duo of Rilee Rossouw and Virat Kohli (9 each) have more T20 tons.
The century pushed his overall T20 run tally past 10,500, and combined with his 178 wickets, the Australian became the first cricketer in history to complete the treble of 10,500-plus runs, over 170 wickets, and more than five T20 hundreds.
It’s a feat that shows his consistency and value as an all-rounder in franchise cricket across the world.
Washington Freedom's Bowling Dominates After Glenn Maxwell's Blitz
Washington’s bowlers did not let Maxwell's knock go to waste. The LA Knight Riders were blown away for just 95 runs in 14.1 overs. Jack Edwards and Mitchell Owen picked up three wickets apiece.
Big names like Sunil Narine, Alex Hales, and Unmukt Chand were dismissed for ducks, and only one batter crossed the 30-run mark.
Washington Freedom have now won two out of their three matches in the season so far.
