India's young all-rounder Harshit Rana has picked his favorite captain ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 tournament. While the Delhi pacer has majorly played under T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, the youngster instead went on to pick Rohit Sharma as his favorite captain. Rana, who is currently playing season 3 of the Delhi Premier League (DPL), is gearing up for the Continental Cup. He is one of the four pacers picked in the 15-member squad.
Ahead of the DPL game, Rana, while speaking to Sports Tak, spoke his heart out in a very candid interview, and rated Rohit highly for what he brings to the team as the leader.
“Rohit bhai is my favorite captain. Compared to others, he is a very, very smart captain,” Rana said.
This statement is huge from the young pacer, who is just trying to make a permanent place in all formats of the game. While a lot of players would diplomatically choose to name Surya as their favorite player, Rana bluntly expressed his views, despite he will next turn out to play in the team captained by Suryakumar.
Harshit Rana keen to make a mark in the Asia Cup
Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Hardik Pandya, & Harshit Rana are the designated pacers picked in the Continental Cup squad. Among the four, three are starters in the playing XI - Bumrah, Pandya, & Arshdeep. All three players played pivotal roles in India clinching the T20 World Cup 2024. While Rana, for now, seems to be a non-starter, he is quietly putting in impressive performances in domestic T20 tournaments.

In the DPL season, the 23-year-old is currently the joint third-highest wicket taker, picking 11 wickets. These superb stats are sure to interest Gautam Gambhir & his coaching staff, who will look to play Rana when one of the lead pacers needs some rest. Aside from his bowling, the youngster is also a pretty handy lower-order batter, a skill Gambhir highly values in T20 cricket.
